The history of Morganton ABC Board began with the opening of a temporary location on South Sterling St. on November 6, 1963. The first permanent store opened in June 1964 at 250 West Fleming Drive. This location, which played a significant role in Burke County liquor sales, operated for 61 years before being relocated just around the corner in 2025 to Tannery Square, marking another chapter for the Morganton ABC Board.
